THE IDOL
By Endang Firdaus
Lola is the best. She has a beautiful face. She is smart. Her parent is very rich. All students and teachers of SD Tugu know it. But, Lola is not proud of it. It makes her friends like her. So do her teachers. All love her. Lola becomes an idol.
“I wish I’m you, La,” says Murti, Lola’s friend, at school’s canteen. She idolizes Lola very much.
“Why” ask Lola.
“You are so beautiful!”
“So are you.”
“But ….”
“But what?”
Murti cleans her mouth wit a handkerchief. She says, “You have everything. You are beautiful, smart, and rich. You are very lucky, La. Everyone wants to be like you very much!”
“All are from God, Mur.”
“Many thing make me idolize you, La.”
“What are them?”
“First, you are so kind.”
“Then?”
“Not boast.”
“What’s more?”
“And …”
“And what?”
“And, please treat me!”
“Huuu!”
“Hihihi!
Lola pays.
She and Murti then leave the canteen. Lola smiles to everyone. Murti feels jealous as all friends ask and wave to Lola only. All idolize Lola. They do not care Murti is beside her. Lola is really an idol.
“I wish I’m Lola,” grumble Murti.
Murti is sure next she will be like Lola. She will try to get it. She knows she will not really be like Lola. “It’s never mind I’m not as beautiful as Lola. It’s never mind I’m not as rich as Lola. But I hope I will be smart like her. I will study hard to get it,” she says in heart.
